Commissioned by the Gifted Education Section of the Curriculum Development Office, Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association and co-organized by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, the general evaluation and award ceremony of the "Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition 16-17" were held on April 2 and On the 3rd, it was successfully held in Hong Kong Science Park.

The competition attracted nearly 350 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Hong Kong, and received nearly 4,000 entries. The purpose of this year's competition is to promote STEM education—Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education, and cultivate students' comprehensive ability across learning areas.

Many of the students' works are closely related to global issues in recent years, such as environmental protection, human health and food safety. Among them, the works on the concept of environmental protection are particularly eye-catching. The competition items are divided into "Science Fantasy Painting", "Research and Invention", "Learning Technology Practice Activities", "Excellent Technology Teacher", "Teacher Teaching Aids Invention" and "Excellent Technology School". Except for science fiction paintings, teachers and students participating in other projects have independent exhibitions on the general evaluation day, and are subject to a rotating evaluation by the jury.

The format of the competition is in line with international competitions. Both the judging and the exhibition mode are in the form of international scientific competitions, which greatly enhances the communication between the judges and the contestants, and the mutual communication between the contestants can strengthen the independent self-learning ability of the contestants. , and improve their confidence and presentation skills.

The competition accepts applications from October to November every year, and a general evaluation and awards ceremony will be held from March to April of the following year.
