A. Category annotation

The secondary school research and invention category covers five main subjects, each divided into junior and senior groups. Participants can choose to enter with a research paper or an invention.

1	Mathematics and Engineering (including works in Electronics, Mechanics, etc.)
applied mathematics	以應用為目的的數學理論與方法，將數學應用到其他知識範疇的研究。
physics	研究能量及其與物質相互作用的原理、理論與定律。
engineering	將科學原理直接應用於生產與實際用途的作品，通常會產生新技術或產品。

2	Chemistry and Materials
chemistry	研究物質性質、組成及其所遵循的規律。
Materials science	研究、發明或應用新材料。

3	Biology and Health
biology	研究植物與動物的生命。
health science	研究人類與動物的疾病、醫藥與健康。

4	Energy and Environmental Science
energy science	研究新能源的發展與應用。
Environmental Science	研究污染源(空氣、水、土地資源)及其控制。

5	Computer and Information Technology
computer	研究電腦理論或程式設計；設計電腦軟件與硬件。
Information Technology	設計與研究信息系統及應用軟件。

B. Participation notice

1. Eligibility
Participants must be currently enrolled students at local Hong Kong secondary schools, including international schools. Each competition entry is limited to one registration number to avoid duplicate registrations.

2. Participation Format
Individual Participation: A single student independently completes the work. Group Participation: Up to three students form a team to collectively complete the work. All team members must belong to the same category.

3. Work Requirements

Works must be completed within two years before the competition submission deadline. Inventions: Must have practical application value or demonstrate innovative technology. Research Papers: Must include a clear research question, methodology, results, and conclusion. ⚠️ Do not include the name of the mentor or school in the work, or the entry will be disqualified. 📷參賽者須於報告首頁加上參賽者與發明品的合照或其研究過程中的相片。

4. Copyright and Intellectual Property
Ownership: Participants retain the copyright of their works, but the organizers have the right to display and promote them during the competition period. Originality: Participants must ensure that their works are original and do not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights.

C. Judging criteria

Scientific Merit	Scientific principles and research methods are sound and rigorous

D. Instructions for submission

You can register first and submit later.

The online registration form will ask participants to choose "Submit Now" or "Submit Later."

If "Submit Now" is selected, the form will display upload fields and require uploading electronic files.

If "Submit Later" is selected, after successful registration, a confirmation email will provide an edit link. Participants can use this link to edit and choose "Submit Now" before the deadline.

If participants fail to submit their entries before the submission deadline, their eligibility will be automatically canceled, and no participation certificates will be issued.

Submission requirements:

If Shortlisted for Final Evaluation
Participants must bring their physical work or model for the final evaluation and present their research journal.
The physical work/model must clearly display the entry number and have a label attached. Dimensions must not exceed 100cm long x 50cm wide x 100cm high.
